Adventure Kitesurfing in Essex near London
Well Kitesurfing is an extreme sport but its great to mix it up every now and then, we always try to push our limits or go on as many adventures as we can. Yesterday turned out to be the perfect day for a trip i've wanted to make for years.
On the Horizon from Frinton on sea you can just see a small spec which looks very insignificant from the shore line, its about 6.5 miles out to sea, just beyond the gunfleet wind farm. Its a beautiful structure built in the 1850's its a iron screw pile contruction which stands 74ft high and contains in its hexagonal layout a living room, bedroom, kitchen, washroom and store room. This lighthouse was in working order until 1920 when the light and fog bell were both removed.
In 1974 the Pirate radio station Atlantis tryied to board and accomodate the light house but were thwarted by the
Slim Chance Saloon is a reference to AJ's new handle pass we were all rather impressed by, we like to see eachother learn new tricks and it continues to inspire us futher.
This video has been flimed over 2012 when we've been testing new products and trying new tricks, we've been using the trusted ION and fantastic ID, but we were able to get our hands on the new Flexifoil Force prototypes and frankly, they blew us away, insane jump and float on these kites, the power they produce for their size is insane, the 13.5m Force out performs the 14.5m Ion in all areas, speed, pop, float and power, and this trend continues, which has seen most people using a size lower in the force than they normally use in another kite.
We've as always tried to push forward with our kiting and have new tricks in the video including Slim chance, Boardmosis, new combinations of tricks, triple board offs with grabs, kitesurfing strapless with the Iconic Flexifoil Blade - this is how I first learnt and its an amazing experience, you just have to be pretty sure your never going to crash the kite!
In this video our riders are myself David Ursell, AJ Philipsen, Kris Beech, Lewis Wilby, Paul Hepworth, Chris Williams and I almost forgot James Wakeling! jumping over the girl in the sunset shot, Happy days.
